Dons boss provides transfer update on striker search – South London News

BY EDMUND BRACK

Mark Robinson has provided an update on AFC Wimbledon’s search for a striker after their 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town.

The Dons lost top goalscorer Ollie Palmer to Wrexham at the start of the week after they agreed a £300,000 fee with the National League side.

The South Londoners have signed Terry Ablade from Fulham, Tomas Kalinauskas from Barnsley – both on loans until the end of the season – and completed the permanent signing of Lee Brown from Portsmouth on Friday during the winter transfer window.

The deadline for deals is Monday night.

Robinson – when asked if the Dons will bring in another player before the window shuts – said: “They are looking. They have obviously got some of the money from the sale of Ollie, which they’re willing to use.

“But, at the same time, we’re trying a different model here. So they are not going to sign someone on a two or three-year contract on big money because we haven’t got it.

“They’re looking at absolutely every option to see if we can bring one in.

“It would be another centre-forward option because all of the lads are very young – it’s their first foray at this level of men’s football.

“Even when Aaron Pressley comes back, it’s the same – it’s his first loan at men’s football.

“We have only got the money for one more, and if we have, it will be a more experienced centre-forward – if they are out there and available.”
