Man admits part in park incident which saw England chief medical officer Chris Whitty in headlock
A man filmed an attack on England’s chief medical officer in a London park, a court was told.
Jonathan Chew used his phone to record a second man putting Professor Sir Chris Whitty in a headlock as they walked through a London park.
Footage of the incident, lasting around 20 seconds and showing the 24-year-old alongside former estate agent Lewis Hughes, was widely shared on social media.
Appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, Chew, of Chelmsford, Essex, admitted a charge of intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress to Prof Sir Chris.
