Kingston live: Updates after man dies falling from building near Bentall Centre

A man has died after falling from a height near a shopping centre in Kingston.

The London Ambulance Service was called at 8.18am to reports of a person falling from a height on Steadfast Street this morning (Thursday, January 27).

Despite the best efforts of medics, they have confirmed that the man has died at the scene.

Police are also in attendance, after being called to the scene by London Ambulance Service at 8.29am.

People are advised to avoid the area, with road closures having been put in place.

The A308 Wood Street is blocked in both directions, according to the latest update from the Inrix Traffic Management system.

It added that the emergency services incident had happened around Skerne Road, near to the Bentall Centre.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8:18am this morning (27 January) to reports of a person falling from height on Steadfast Street, Kingston Upon Thames.

“We sent a number of resources including an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer, and medics from London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene.”
