London police, called to vehicle fire, launch suspicious-death probe

London police are investigating a suspicious death at the city’s southern edge that was discovered after a vehicle fire Saturday night.

A person was found dead on Manning Drive around 9 p.m. Saturday. Officers were initially called for a vehicle on fire.

“Further investigation revealed an individual was deceased at the scene,” London police said in a statement.

No further details, including the age or gender of the victim, have been made public.

Manning Drive was closed between White Oaks Road and Wonderland Road South while police, the coroner, and the Ontario fire marshal’s office probed the death. The public is asked to avoid the area.
