Londoner baffled after ’30 rolled cigarettes keep appearing on the wall outside’

A student has spoken about how surprised he is to regularly find a load of rolled cigarettes outside of his south London university.

Ross Gordon, 22, of Streatham, is studying acting at Italia Conti, a performing arts school on Landor Road, Clapham.

To his surprise a good samaritan keeps leaving rolled cigarettes right outside his college.

Ross Gordon, 22, won’t smoke any of the cigarettes left on the wall

“This has happened six times over the past year,” said Ross.

But despite the seemingly generous act, the 22-year-old doesn’t “have a clue” who’s been leaving the cigarettes there.

“We’ve asked some of our colleagues at the school,” but no one’s said it was them.

“It’s completely boggled us,” he added.

However, Ross has a suspicion.

The college is next to a residential estate and “we’re thinking it could be someone who lives in one of the houses there,” he suggested.

“It’s always on that wall, sometimes they might be further down the wall, but they’re always on that same wall.”

Weirdly enough the number of cigarettes left has increased since the students stumbled across the first batch.

“The number has grown since last year, it’s risen from 10 to 30 (cigarettes left on the wall),” he said.

Most people wouldn’t just constantly dump a load of tobacco on a wall for no reason, and Ross thinks it’s a gesture of generosity.

Ross said: “I think they could just be seeing us smoking out there and thinking to themselves ‘I want to give some students some cigarettes because they seem like they like it’”.

He added that the industrial amount of cigarettes are the only strange thing he’s seen left on the wall.

Although Ross is grateful for the kind gesture, there’s “not a chance” he’s smoked any of the cigarettes as it’s “a bit dangerous.”

“Someone tested one a couple of months ago, and it was just a cigarette,” he said.

Ross added that he has a clear message to the tobacco doner.

“Thank you very much for the thought and if you want to keep doing what you’re doing, I’d love to hear from you so us students can give back.”
