Daryl Burgess reacts to Daryl Dike performance in West Brom debut v QPR

Daryl Burgess was impressed by Daryl Dike as the striker made his West Brom debut at QPR on Saturday.

Dike, 21, was substituted into the game in the 59th minute but failed to stop the Baggies lost 1-0 in West London due to Charlie Austin’s 89th-minute winner against his former club.

All eyes were on Dike though once he came on and Burgess suggests the USA striker is someone who should fit in well at The Hawthorns.

Dike looks a real handful 👊🏻

He took to Twitter to say: “Dike looks a real handful.”

Shocking result

West Brom did need to sign Dike. They could not get through January without signing a new striker and thankfully, they got the business done early to land the USA international from Orlando City.

However, signing one striker and playing him for 30 minutes isn’t going to lead to an instant impact.

Sure, there were encouraging signs regarding Dike but we need to see him from the start and see how he can perform throughout a match.

But there are clearly other massive issues at the Albion.

Valerien Ismael’s side is currently hit by suspension and injury issues and the lack of depth is really starting to show.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman has done brilliantly but he can only do so much and young players always drop off at some point and have bad games.

Jayson Molumby and Adam Reach aren’t good enough, Darnell Furlong’s form is rotten and most of the attackers have been woeful all season.

So much needs to change this month in order to revive a bid to finish in the top-two.

In other West Brom news, an ex-FIFA official wants a huge action made against Jake Livermore and Albion’s current crisis.
