Tottenham vs Chelsea football match paused due to ‘medical emergency’

Play was paused in a much anticipated London derby football match due to a ‘medical emergency’ among the crowd.

The incident came just minutes before the Tottenham vs Chelsea game came to an end.

The reason for the pause in play was announced on the Chelsea FC Twitter account.

A spokesperson said at around 9.30pm on January 12: “Play is paused due to a medical emergency in the crowd.”

No further detail has been released at this stage.

MyLondon has contacted the London Ambulance Service for comment.

Other fans were quick to wish the best for the person who fell ill.

One said: “Hoping the person in the stands is okay”

Another said: “Lets all pray for whoever is that situation”.

The game, which was the latest clash in the Carabao Cup, played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.

Chelsea went on to win the game 1-0.

Lamenting on their official Twitter account, a spokesperson for Spurs said “Our Carabao Cup run comes to and end”.
