Hillingdon Police officers from the West Area Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) Team Two yesterday arrested a male in possession of a knife and pepper spray.
Officers were patrolling in West Drayton due to the recent increase in violence and high-profile incidents in the capital.
They stopped and searched a male who was found to be in possession of the offending items.
In the UK pepper spray and CS gas are considered firearms and carry the same legal penalties as carrying a gun.
If someone is caught with pepper spray they will face arrest and a subsequent criminal record.
The maximum penalty for an adult carrying a knife is four years in prison and an unlimited fine.
