Breaking: Romelu Lukaku breaks silence in wake of his explosive interview with Chelsea apology

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has insisted fans do not need to question his commitment to the Blues in the wake of his recent explosive interview.

The Belgian admitted he was ‘not happy’ with his current situation in west London, also talking up a move back to Inter Milan.

Many supporters’ reaction to the revelations were, as expected, not too positive, with some Blues fans shocked by Lukaku’s actions.

However, in an apologetic video released by the Blues, he reaffirmed his desire to represent the club.

Lukaku said: “They don’t need to question that [commitment]. At the end of the day, I always said I wanted to come here to be successful, that’s why I signed a five-year deal. I think Chelsea as a club is equal to success.

“I think all the players who come here are winning and I have a special passion for this club and I want to achieve that with this football club and want to win here for many years.

“That’s why I signed a five-year deal and I want to make sure I show my commitment in training every day and in games for this football club.”

Amid the revelations, Lukaku has felt the wrath of Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, with the German dropping the club’s record signing entirely ahead of the entertaining 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

He admitted that discussions have since been held with the striker, and an apology has been offered. Despite that, Lukaku has sent another message to supporters and Tuchel expressing his regret at the situation, whilst also attempting to rectify his actions.

Lukaku continued: “To the fans, I’m sorry for the upset I caused.

“You guys know the connection I have with this club since my teenage years so I totally understand you guys being upset. Obviously, it’s up to me now to restore your trust and show my commitment every day on the training ground and in the games trying to make sure we win games.

“Also to the manager, I apologise and also to my teammates and the board. It was not the right moment also and I want to move on forward from this and we start winning football games and I perform for the team in the best way.”
