Woman jogger raped in South London park as cops hunt suspect in ‘scruffy trainers’

POLICE are hunting a man in “scruffy” trainers after a woman was raped in a park while running.

The jogger was in Streatham Common in South London when she was ambushed by a stranger.

The suspect then fled towards a Sainsbury’s on Streatham High Road.

Police are now hunting the fiend following the horror at around 5.10am on December 23.

He has been described as a tall male of athletic build, who was wearing dark clothing with a hood and face covering and gloves.

Police also said he spoke with an English accent and wore white “scruffy” trainers.

Scotland Yard added: “A woman was attacked by an unknown man whilst running a route into Streatham Common via Streatham Common North at around 05.10hrs.

“The incident was reported to police on 28 December.

Were you in Streatham Common on 23 December between 05:00hrs and 07:00hrs?

“Did you see anyone who fit this description in the Common?”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting CAD 1936/28 Dec.
