Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming to continue their pursuit of the Premier League top four on New Year’s Day as they travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford.
Antonio Conte ’s men come into the game on seven Premier League matches without a defeat, having been held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Southampton last time out.
The Hornets, meanwhile, are struggling and are stuck in a poor run of form under Claudio Ranieri.
Despite Spurs looking the more fancied on paper, that has not allowed the north Londoners to take their foot off the pedal, with Conte and his staff having worked them hard during their latest training session.
football.london has taken a look at the latest team news hints ahead of the clash with Watford.
Romero back in training
Since arriving in the summer from Atalanta, Argentine defender Cristian Romero has endured a hugely frustrating start to life in north London.
Due to a combination of injuries and quarantine, he has made just 13 appearances for Spurs in all competitions so far this season and has missed the last six Premier League games with a hamstring problem.
Whilst Romero ’s return does look to be some way off, there were positive signs to see the 23-year-old involved.
He appeared to be training away from the main group, which could suggest that his return to the Spurs starting line-up could be some time away, but it is certainly a welcome sight to see the Argentine back involved.
Youngsters still involved
Whilst Romero is not yet ready to be called upon, there are a couple of youngsters who are still involved in first-team training and could well be handed an opportunity against Watford, depending on the Covid-19 situation at Hotspur Way.
The likes of Brooklyn Lyons-Foster and Harvey White were spotted in the thick of things ahead of the clash with the Hornets.
The latter has so far made two first-team appearances, whilst the former has yet to make his first-team debut for Spurs.
It will be interesting to note then that the pair are under consideration by Antonio Conte.
Ndombele in the thick of things
Whilst Lyons-Foster and White are aiming to grasp one of their first chances for the north London outfit, one man who is running out of chances is Tanguy Ndombele.
The Frenchman has really flattered to deceive since his big money move from Lyon and he has struggled to earn the trust of Spurs’ new head coach.
Since the Italian’s arrival in north London, the 25-year-old has made just one Premier League start – with his two league appearances only accounting for 75 minutes of action in total.
For a player famed for his skill and creativity in France, Ndombele was left on the bench as Spurs toiled to break down 10-man Southampton last time out.
He was spotted getting heavily involved though before the Watford game though, so he will hope a reverse in fortunes comes sooner rather than later.
