Heartbroken Stacey Solomon says she ‘feels guilty’ about family pet’s death as fans rush to support her

Stacey Solomon says she is feeling sad and guilty after announcing some devastating family news earlier this week.

The TV star and former ‘Queen of the Jungle’ took to social media yesterday to tell fans that their dog Theo died on Monday night.

She has since received thousands of messages of support and kindness from friends, family and fans – and she says she is extremely grateful that Theo was a part of so many people’s lives.

In a snap shared to her Instagram story today (December 29), the Loose Women panellist shared some of the messages of goodwill – but also admitted she feels “sad and guilty” after Theo’s death.

Posting to her 4.9 million followers, she penned: “Last night when everyone was sleeping (the time of night Theo would sit on my lap and it would be just us). I sat and read your messages.

“Thank you. I can’t even tell you what comfort your kind words brought me. Knowing lots of you knew and cared about Theo through here makes me feel so much less alone.

Fellow celebs and rushed to offer their support after she announced the news, including X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and EastEnders star Nadia Sawalha.

She continued: “I feel so sad and guilty for some reason, I don’t know why but even with all of those feelings your kind messages made me smile and for that I am so so grateful. Love you all to the moon and back.

“Peanut is extremely sad. We are giving him all of the cuddles and love and he is cuddling Rose like a hot water bottle so hopefully he will be back to his jumpy, happy self soon.”

Stacey told fans her family’s ‘hearts are broken’ after Theo died on Monday night.

Along with a selection of pictures of the dog cuddling with Stacey and her family, she also shared a heartfelt goodbye message to her canine companion.

She wrote: “Sweet Dreams Theo. The best friend we could have ever wished for. Our hearts are broken.

“Yesterday at home in our arms we had to say goodnight to our Theo. 11 wonderful years. We were so lucky to love you Fifi and we will never stop. My lap has never felt so empty I miss you so much already. My little girl.”

Theo had been a valued part of the family for over a decade, having got the Pomeranian-Chihuahua cross breed in 2010.

She added: “But oh my goodness the memories and the love you brought into our lives. Thank you for everything Theo.

“For protecting me and the boys when we needed it most. For loving us no matter what and for holding on for so long and waiting to meet your little sister Rose.

“Rex has had the best friend in you that he could ever have wished for and the boys have had the best protector in the whole wide world. Even though Rex is only little I know him, Zachary and Leighton will never ever forget you.

“Peanut is missing his cuddle buddy very much so we are trying to make it up to him in our cuddles but I know it’s just not the same. To the moon and back Theo, Forever, Sleep tight my beautiful little lady.”
