Bukayo Saka grabbed a brace, while Kieran Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette and Emile Smith Rowe also got on the scoresheet.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be delighted with his free-scoring outfit and with two home games to come, they have an excellent chance to cement their position in the Premier League’s top four going into 2022.

Arsenal are on fire in the Premier League.

Arteta gives key reason for form

Arteta thinks a new-found united is behind Arsenal’s excellent goalscoring form.

The free-flowing Gunners have scored 13 goals in their last three games and their slick attacking interplay was far too much for Norwich to handle on Boxing Day.

While the team have previously looked one-dimensional in attack under Arteta, at the moment there is variety and verve in their play. Arteta thinks confidence is pulsing through the players and it’s showing.

“The direction the team is taking, how we are growing, the understanding, the unity, the support from our supporters in every ground is very much linked with the way we want to play,” he said. “I am very pleased with that as well.”

Arsenal not missing Aubameyang

After another excellent win on the road, the attacking players understandably grabbed the headlines for the Gunners at Carrow Road.

After Gabriel Martinelli’s brace at Leeds, it was the turn of Saka to net twice away from home. It’s the first time the England international has got on the scoresheet on multiple occasions for the Gunners.

As Tom Blow noted in his five talking points from the game, at the moment the team is not missing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s influence at all.

“Arsenal have now won five consecutive games in all competitions since Aubameyang was dropped, scoring 19 goals,” he said.

“And we’re not used to seeing Arteta’s side score. They managed just 55 goals in the Premier League last term, seven fewer than Leeds.”

Lacazette turns down contract

Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly rejected the offer of a one-year extension from Arsenal.

The France international has been in fine form recently, playing an important role at the point of the attack and helping bring the best out of the club’s plethora of attacking midfield talent. Lacazette has two goals and three assists in his last four outings.

Following the decision to strip Aubameyang of the captaincy, Arteta has decided to hand the armband to the former Lyon man in recent weeks too.

However, with Lacazette’s contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign, his future is in serious doubt in north London.
