Nine Elms crash: Female pedestrian hit in ‘major’ vehicle accident on Wandsworth Road

A female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in South London this evening (December 22).

The emergency happened on Wandsworth Road in Nine Elms with Met Police confirming they were called just before 8pm.

It is understood that Wandsworth Road has been closed in the southbound direction as emergency services rush to the pedestrian’s aid.

A witness in the area described seeing a “major accident” with officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at the scene opposite the Sainsbury’s.

They wrote on social media: “Major accident on Wandsworth Road A3036 (opposite Nine Elms Sainsbury’s) traffic closed in both directions. @metpoliceuk and@Ldn_Ambulance on the scene.”

Transport for London (TfL) also confirmed it was aware of the crash with an update on its website advising the public to take an alternative route.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 7.56pm on Wednesday, December 22 to reports of vehicle in collision with a female pedestrian on Wandsworth Road, SW8.

“Emergency services are in attendance.”
