London Underground: Paramedics rush woman to hospital after late night fall onto track at Tube station

A woman was rushed to hospital after she fell onto the tracks while other passengers looked on at a Central London Tube station.

Witnesses reported seeing the woman fall from the platform at Tottenham Court Road London Underground station.

Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed that it will launch a “full investigation with all the relevant authorities into the circumstances of this incident”.

Crews from London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called to the emergency incident at 12.50am on Saturday, December 4.

The woman was looked after by a response officer, an advanced paramedic and two ambulance crews before she was taken to an major trauma centre.

At around 1.15am on Saturday TfL tweeted that Tottenham Court Road had been closed due to a “customer incident”.

“Tottenham Court Road: The Central and Northern line station is currently closed. This is due to a customer incident,” the tweet read.

However just before 1.50am Transport for London confirmed that the Tube station had reopened.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told MyLondon : “We were called at 0.50am on Saturday, December 4 to Tottenham Court Road station, W1D, to reports of a person injured.

“We sent an incident response officer, an advanced paramedic and two ambulance crews to the scene.

“We treated a woman at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre.”

Nick Dent, Director of Customer Operations for London Underground said that the incident is being “urgently investigated”.

He said: “We are urgently investigating the incident that took place at Tottenham Court Road Tube station at around 0.45am this morning (Saturday 4 December) where a customer fell onto tracks.

“We would like to reassure customers that the safety of everyone on our network is always our top priority and our station staff immediately attended the incident.

“A full investigation with all the relevant authorities into the circumstances of this incident will be carried out.”
