Girl, 17, and four women arrested for ‘murder’ after body of man, 37, found in street

A murder probe has ben launched after a man was found dead in a street in East London – with four women and a 17-year-old girl arrested.

Police officers rushed to Louise Gardens, Rainham, in east London at 8pm Wednesday night to reports of a group of people in the street causing a disturbance.

A 37-year-old man was found unresponsive and despite the efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at the scene, the Met Police said in an appeal.

A woman was also found with an injury to her wrist – she was taken to hospital and her condition has been assessed as non life-threatening.

Work is ongoing to determine the man’s identity and ensure next of kin are informed, police said.

A crime scene is in place and homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are working to understand the full circumstances.

Four women, aged between 48 and 21, and a 17-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody.
