Emergency crews have called off a search for a man who was seen entering the Thames River on Saturday.

After receiving reports of a man entering the river near Wharncliffe Road South and Oxford Street around 8:20 a.m. Saturday, officers arrived and spotted a person submerged in the water, said police, who set up a command centre in a Greenway Park parking lot.

Rescue efforts were unsuccessful and a three-day search involving an OPP helicopter, police and firefighters came up empty, police said Tuesday.

“Search efforts have now concluded and the male was not recovered. No further information will be released at this time,” police said in a statement.
