London tube horror: Person dies after being hit by train in ‘absolutely terrifying’ crash | UK | News

London Ambulance Service was called just after 10.20am on Monday to reports of somebody being hit by a train. An ambulance crew, two fast response cars, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance were despatched.

However, the person involved, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, died at the scene.

Twitter user Sam Tucker posted: “Absolutely terrifying on the #victorialine at #stockwell just now.

“Tube stopped. Door did not open.

“Long wait with no announcement followed by emergency sirens…still no announcement.

“People panicking. Eventually one door opened way to long after evac had started….”

A TFL spokesman told Express.co.uk: “There was a suspension between Victoria and Brixton from 10.25am until 11.30am because of an incident at Stockwell.

“Had to dash to Oval to get tube to Kings X for train home. 

“Beyond stressful. Just a truly awful service!!!”

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to an incident at Stockwell Underground Station this morning (Monday).

“The Brigade was called at 10.19am and the incident was over for firefighters by 11.11am.

“Two fire engines from Brixton Fire Station and a fire rescue unit from Battersea Fire Station were at the scene.”
