ITV I’m A Celebrity: Bosses panic about show’s fate after three more campmates fall ill

Bosses of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Are said to have growing concerns over the fate of the series after three more contestants have been forced to seek medical help.

Producers of the hit ITV show are fearful there could be more departures after the welfare of three campmates have become causes for concern.

The news comes as it was announced yesterday (November 25) that TV presenter Richard Madeley was forced to quit the castle after falling ill and being taken to hospital.

The Good Morning Britain host felt unwell in the early hours of Wednesday morning, not long after he had competed in the stomach-turning Kitchen Nightmares trial, which saw him crawl through offal and rotten food to collect stars.

He was forced to leave the show after breaking the show’s Covid bubble when he went to hospital.

Reports have now emerged that three other celebrity contestants are also having medical treatment.

According to The Sun, Dame Arlene Phillips, who at 78 is the oldest contestant ever to take part in I’m A Celeb, has been taking painkillers to treat “chronic pain”, while DJ and music producer Naught Boy, 36, is having a “tough time” from a mental health perspective due to being away from his mother who has dementia.

Meanwhile The Saturdays star Frankie Bridge, 32, is said to have developed a rash for which she has been forced to seek medical attention.

Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, has reportedly sought help from the show’s counselling team regarding his anxiety around his mother’s health.

A source told The Sun: “He’s been speaking to the show’s psych team, led by Sandra Scott, on a specially set-up iPad to make sure he is staying upbeat, this is the longest he has been away from his mother since her diagnosis so they are keen to make sure he’s not spiralling quietly.”

His struggles came after his family, who are running his social media account while he is on the show, revealed earlier this week that he had been caring for his mum for the past five years.

In Tuesday night’s episode Naughty Boy and Arlene both threatened to walk out on the show instead of joining the Main Camp, after starting their I’m A Celeb journey in The Clink.

They decided to stay after Richard Madeley persuaded them to sleep on their decision, leading them to give the Main Camp a go.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene has prompted concern from producers and fans of the show alike over her increasingly frail appearance and the pain she is finding herself in.

Speaking to The Sun, an insider said; “There are growing concerns for Arlene who is really struggling and in chronic pain, she is being helped around by the likes of David Ginola and Naughty Boy and is looking really frail.

“It’s hard enough roughing it in the ruins of an old castle let alone at 78 years old. She is a trooper and wants to show everyone how tough she is.”

With Storm Arwen forecast to bring snow and winds of 80mph to Gwrych Castle, North Wales, where the show is filmed, producers are hoping that morale will stay high enough to stop any more celebrities quitting the show.

ITV confirmed that no replacement celebrities will be drafted in.
