Tottenham injury news ahead of Leeds United: Latest on Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso

Antonio Conte will be determined to secure his first Premier League victory as Tottenham manager this afternoon against Leeds United in north London.

Conte, who was appointed as the permanent manager of Spurs earlier in the month, has taken charge of his new side for two games so far – a win against Vitesse in the Europa Conference League and a goalless draw against Everton before the two-week international break.

The Italian coach has had plenty of time now to get his ideas to his new players, albeit with the majority out on international duty with their respective countries recently.

Annoyingly for Conte, though, not everyone came through the break unscathed in regards to injuries. With that being said, football.london takes a close look at the latest Spurs-related injury news.

Oliver Skipp

Skipp picked up his fifth yellow card in Tottenham’s draw with Everton before the two-week break and is therefore suspended for the visit of Leeds on Sunday.

Cristian Romero

Conte ruled Romero out for this weekend’s clash after he picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty with Argentina recently.

The 23-year-old defender played the full 90 minutes in Conte’s first Premier League game in charge against Everton recently, but he is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Conte said this on Romero: “Bad news about Cristian Romero and his injury. I spoke with the doctors and now is right to wait seven to 10 days for another scan to understand the time he needs to recover.”

Giovani Lo Celso

Conte also spoke about the fitness of Lo Celso in his press conference and admitted that he will be assessed ahead of the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He said: “Giovani Lo Celso did not come back perfect physically. I do not know about him if he will be available. For sure Romero is not available, Lo Celso I don’t know. The rest of the team, we have all the players.”
