London property: £3.85 million Grand Designs ‘house of fun’ for sale with sauna and disco room

London has a host of fantastic properties – that’s no secret – but hidden among the terraces and cobbled mews of the city a few very famous homes sit amongst us.

One such is this amazing four bedroom Kensington townhouse which was painstakingly developed on Channel 4’s Grand Designs back in 2011.

The house was the brainchild of couple Ian Hogarth and Claire Farrow who decided to take a punt on transforming their glitzy West London abode into something even more spectacular.

The ambitious plan saw the couple add a host of features including a cinema room, sauna and dance floor.

The house is stunning

The couple also underwent a slice of development hell by extending the garden into a beautiful social area.

In fact, the couple’s plan was so delightfully bonkers, host Kevin McCloud described it as “a house of fun.”

The end result was an architecturally stunning yet minimalist house that ticked every box.

It even has its own disco room

And in great news for Londoners with exceedingly deep pockets, the house is now on sale.

The house, located on Russell Garden Mews, has been put on the market for £3,850,000.

And according to estate agents, The Modern House, the property is one of “rare personality.”

Their listing reads: “At the end of Russell Gardens Mews, a traditional, cobbled no-through lane in Kensington, lies this exuberant four-bedroom house by architect Ian Hogarth.

“It extends to over 3,120 sq ft internally, with two lower levels of sociable space and an integrated garage, and enjoys a wealth of wonderful interactions with its surroundings, including the enclosed private garden.

“This is a family home of rare personality and inimitable fun; enhanced all the more by the spa, cinema and the under-lit dancefloor that made it such a memorable feature on Grand Designs in 2011.”
