Angel canal incident: Man dies and another rushed to hospital after being pulled from water

A man has died and another has been rushed to hospital after being found in a canal in North London last night (November 14).

The men were discovered in a section of Regent’s Canal in Angel at just after 11.20pm.

The emergency services were called to Graham Street park and Metropolitan Police officers, the National Police Air Service and the Met’s Marine Support Unit all attended.

First aid was provided to one man found in the water and he was taken to hospital where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A second man was recovered from the water some time later, was treated at the scene by paramedics and also taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead this morning.

A statement from the Met said: “A cordon remains in place. Enquires continue to determine the circumstances but at this early stage the incident is not believed to be suspicious.

“Anyone with any information is asked to ring 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD7988/14Nov.”
