‘I had to switch off’: Channel 4 Gogglebox viewers all say the same thing about ‘traumatising’ moment

Gogglebox viewers are all saying the same thing after the Channel 4 series showed a “traumatsing” moment forcing some to stop watching.

The reality reaction show can throw up some curveballs that make us cry, squeam and belly laugh but Friday (November 12) night’s episode pushed people to the edge.

The Goggleboxers were this time shown Netflix’s latest nature documentary series Animal, which follows some of the world’s most fascinating creatures.

No David Attenborough for this one. Instead it’s narrated by Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, Parks and Recreations’ Rashida Jones, Bridesmaids’ Rebel Wilson and The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal.

The reality show featured a clip from the marsupials episode in which a pack of kangaroos is being chased by dingos.

When a kangaroo mother carrying her joey in her pouch started falling behind, both Goggleboxers and viewers at home started to become nervous.

But the sense of dread only increased when the young kangaroo started to fall out of the pouch and was eventually left behind by its mum for the dingos to feast on.

All of the show’s participants were horrified.

It’s fair to say the moment did not land well with those watching at home either, with many calling the experience “traumatising”.

“Did youse have to show that part?” Wondered one viewer.

Another complained: “Honestly #gogglebox why every week do you bloody insist on showing these bloody nature programmes, as every week I have to switch off!”

“The nature programmes that they show are literally traumatising,” continued a third person while : “Why in every single bloody episode of #gogglebox is there a nature programme with some poor animal running for its life.”

A further commenter added: “the warnings are appreciated but do gogglebox really need to show upsetting animal documentaries #gogglebox.”

Another simply said: “STOP PUTTING THE HORRIBLE ANIMAL DEATHS ON.”

While the programme quickly moved on to more lighthearted matters, with Jenny telling Lee about a time she left her baby in a pram outside the shops, viewers were still not over what they just saw, with : “this ‘funny’ story doesn’t make up for that kanga being… Eaten.”
