Steven Gerrard is the new manager of Aston Villa.
The Liverpool legend has left his position at Scottish giants Rangers to take charge at Villa Park following the departure of Dean Smith over the weekend.
After guiding Villa to promotion during his first season at the helm in 2019, Smith kept his side in the Premier League on the final day of the following season before building on that with an 11th-placed finish last time out.
But their start to this campaign – which sees them 16th with just three wins from 11 games – forced the owners to turn to Rangers’ Gerrard.
Gerrard took his first steps into senior management by joining the Gers in May 2018 and, last season, finally ended Celtic’s Scottish dominance by securing their first Premiership title in 10 years.
