Live Greater Anglia updates after person is hit by train between Chelmsford and Witham

There is major disruption on Greater Anglia services in Essex after a person was hit by a train.

The emergency services were called at around 6.30am this morning after the person was hit on the line between Chelmsford and Witham (Monday, November 8).

This has led to major disruption across the rail network as Greater Anglia cancels services.

As well as this some services via Colchester may be held at Liverpool Street.

Trains are still operating on the Braintree and Sudbury branch lines.

Greater Anglia has said services between Liverpool Street, Witham, Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich are subject to short notice delays, alterations and cancellations.

British Transport Police and Greater Anglia have been contacted for further information.

A tweet from Greater Anglia this morning said: “NEW: Due to a person hit by a train between Chelmsford and Witham all lines are blocked.

“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until further notice.”
