Moped rider, 59, fighting for life after collision with lorry whose driver was ‘under influence of drugs’

A 59-year-old moped rider is fighting for his life after a collision with a lorry whose driver who was ‘under the influence of drugs’.

The impact occurred just before 10.55am this morning (November 3) in White Hart Lane, Tottenham.

The moped rider suffered a serious head injury and was taken by the London Ambulance Service to an East London hospital where he remains in a critical condition. London Air Ambulance also attended.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.

He was taken to a West London police station where he remains, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Closures and cordons remain in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.
