Parents share warning about new game kids are playing – and it’s ‘not just for Halloween’

Parents have issued an urgent warning to others following the rise of a new ‘trend’ which sees children ‘egging’ strangers.

People were reporting on social media that they had been a target of ‘egging’ which is when you get eggs thrown at you for no apparent reason.

On Halloween there has been a history of people having their houses egged but there have been warnings that this new wave of egging is taking place without reason all year round.

Those that have been egged have reported it happening after dark by ‘big groups of youths’ in Ealing, West London and Wimbledon.

One man in Ealing reported: “Heads up. Bunch of guys going round egging people walking in Northfields. Just got egged twice.”

A woman in Wimbledon said last week: “Just had my coat ruined by some people who think it’s funny to throw eggs at random people.

“My day has been ruined just because you wanted a little laugh.”

Other commenters were quick to warn of the new ‘trend’, one said: “I have heard about this trend going round from my kid. Watch what your children are doing at night. They could be arrested for this.”

One said: “Kids these days have nothing to do. No wonder they’re out egging people. Where are the youth clubs and other activities for them to not be bored and have to try to ruin other peoples’ days.

“This isn’t just a Halloween thing either, I have heard of people having eggs thrown at them for over two months now.”
