TikTok trend where yobs kick doors in is ‘terrifying the elderly and vulnerable’

A local police force in Wales released a warning last week saying the Tik Tok trend was leaving elderly and vulnerable people terrified and branding the behaviour “disgusting”

Yobs are filming themselves as they smash in people’s front doors and then scarper as part of a sickening new TikTok craze that has resulted in a police warning.

The video-sharing platform is awash with clips of youngsters stamping on doors, with some smashing clean open.

Kesha’s song Die Young is used as a backing track to the selfish stunts, as youngsters kick doors in time to the lyrics.

As she sings “I hear your heart beat to the beat of drums”, louts kick the door twice to make banging noises.

As the trend spreads into wider communities, there have been reports of criminal damage as front doors are smashed open.

A local police force also released a warning last week saying the trend was leaving elderly and vulnerable people terrified.

One viral TikTok clip, viewed more than a million times in four days, shows two males with their hoods up as they descend a flight of steps and appear to kick a front door open.

It is not immediately clear where the incident was filmed but is at a block of flats and appears to be in the UK.

Comments on the post indicate the anti-social behaviour trend is spiralling out of control.

One person slammed: “Nobody thinks about the fact there could be old people or mentally ill people living in that house. This isn’t ok.”

Other impressionable youths commented “we should do this”.

It comes after a police force in Wales issued a warning over the “disgraceful” behaviour last week.

North Wales Police’s Gwynedd North Policing team uploaded a video of youngsters kicking a front door to their Facebook page on Friday.

Sgt Non Edwards said: “We have had an increase of calls reporting this stupid act which is causing people to be fearful in their homes.

“I would ask all parents – do you know where your children are and what they are doing – how would you feel if they did this to your parent or grandparent?

“This video appeared on a TikTok account from an act in Caernarfon where three youths kicked an elderly person’s door and then thought it was funny uploading it.

“Disgraceful behaviour.”

The trend has also reportedly spread to north London, where a young man claims his door was booted in on September 19.

The alleged victim, Joe, said his door was smashed open while he was watching Netflix in Haringey on a Sunday afternoon.

The 23-year-old said: “I was watching TV and heard a crash outside.

“I stuck my head out the window and saw a bunch of teenagers – I’d say they were about 15 or 16 years old – running away.

“They had their hoods up and were looking back at me, laughing.

“I thought maybe they’d knocked a bin over but when I went downstairs an hour or so later the front door was wide open.

“The lock was bust of its hinges and there was splintered wood and screws on the floor.
“I was furious, it’s a disgrace.”

Joe reported the incident to police but says they closed the case the next day without coming to investigate.
