Sh!tfaced Shakespeare is coming to south London

“I would give all my fame for a pot of ale and safety”, says the King’s bestie Boys in William Shakespeare’s Henry V.

Thankfully, the safety of the actors in Sh!tfaced Shakespeare’s (in theory any) shouldn’t be compromised. But for one of them, every night, their sobriety will be.

This is the premise of the playful and wildly successful take on Shakespeare that is landing in Twickenham and Croydon next month.

Each night one of the actors, who in this run will attempt the bard’s classic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, is selected at random and given four hours to drink before the curtains open for the first time.

The results are frequently hilarious and unexpected, and promise a novel and likely entertaining take on Shakespeare that may not in fact be too far away from how his plays were performed back in their Elizabethan heyday.

“Featuring sozzled star-crossed lovers, a tipsy Tybalt, muddled masquerade balls and squiffy street fights, audiences are invited to settle in for a pint (or two!) and raise a glass with Sh!t-faced Shakespeare®  as they present the classic combination of a Tetris-ed together Shakespeare script, a six pack of professional actors and a luge of booze. What could possibly go right?  Warning: Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® is perfect for those wishing to add to their repertoire of colourful language and not for those who blush easily at the mere mention of the “F” word…,” a promo for the latest run of the comedy theatre series reads.

Sh!tfaced Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet will be at Twickenham Exchange on November 19 and Fairfield Halls in Croydon on November 27. Click here for more info.
