Greenwich one of London’s cleanest boroughs for a night out

Greenwich has been revealed as one of the cleanest boroughs in London for a night out, according to unusual new research.

Using data from the Food Standards Agency, Property Inspect has identified the most and least hygienic London boroughs for a night out.

Greenwich is the fourth most hygienic borough, 78.70 percent of pubs and clubs in the area were rated a 5 at their latest inspection.

Bexley placed 17th overall, with 64.75 percent of venues rated a 5, slightly above the national average.

Hammersmith & Fulham is the best in the city, with 81.67 percent of all venues receiving a 5 rating.

Elsewhere in South London, Kingston, Sutton and Wandsworth all have 5 ratings in over 70 percent of clubs and bars.

Across the UK, 63.71 percent of all pubs, clubs and bars are rated a 5 for hygiene and, thankfully, only 0.94 percent are rated a 1.

Warrick Swift, commercial director of Property Inspect, said: “Cleanliness and hygiene in venues of all kinds is becoming increasingly important to customers so a low hygiene rating affects businesses and their patrons alike.

“Venues with a hygiene rating below a 3 could lose as much as 34 per cent of their customers, so getting on top of cleaning practices, whether you’re a pub, club or bar is vital to survival, especially since the beginning of the pandemic.

“Tracking cleaning processes and providing transparent information for customers is essential to adding peace of mind to the experience of your customers, especially as we begin to learn to live with Covid.”
