A40 traffic live: Updates after woman, 23, found dead on Westway as police close major road

A woman has died after being found in the middle of a major West London road.

The A219 Wood Lane, Shepherd’s Bush, is currently closed in both directions this afternoon (Tuesday, October 19) after police were first called at around 9.56am.

They found a woman, believed to be aged 23, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe her injuries have been caused as a result of a collision, although no vehicles stopped at the scene.

A spokesperson from the Met Police said: “Anyone who witnessed a collision should call 101, giving the reference 2081/19OCT.Drivers who were in the area at the time are encouraged to check any dash-cam footage they may have.”

Pictures from the scene show an ambulance and a police car parked near the site. The scene is near to Wormwood Scrubs prison.
