A town on the edge of Cambridgeshire has been named one of the UK’s best small towns to live in.
Stamford was praised for its transport links, excellent schools and array of independent shops in a list compiled by property finders Garrington.
The ‘finest stone town in England’ also boasts 11 churches, 30 pubs, 20 restaurants and more than 10 quality hotels and guest houses.

The town technically lies in Lincolnshire, but is just a 20-minute drive from Peterborough and the county line dividing Lincolnshire from Cambridgeshire cuts directly through the grounds of Burghley House.
Garrington said: “It is a well-connected, historic town on the easter edge of the Midlands.
“The many independent shops that line the quaint streets of the town trade under a common banner of “ancient and vibrant”.
“If you have children of school age, you may be spoilt for the choice of excellent public and private schools.”
