Cops have launched an investigation after a “badly decomposed” body was found in derelict pub in East London.

Cops were called to the pub on Romford Road in Forest Gate, just after 3pm on Friday afternoon.

They found a badly decomposed body, which was initially discovered by workmen carrying out construction work on the site.

The building stands metres away from Forest Gate Police station.

A Met spokesman said the pub had been derelict for many years, The Sun reports.

Further tests are planned to find more details about the mystery body.

Scaffolding currently covers the outside of the building.

Pictures taken since the discovery show dozens of forensic officers searching for evidence and entering the pub.

A tent has also been erected outside the premises for forensics to operate undisturbed.
