Police update after woman found dead in home

Police in Downham Road, Ramsden Heath on October 11 following the death of a woman at an address

A man arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Essex has been released without charge.

A murder investigation was launched on Monday (October 11) after a woman was found dead at an address in Downham Road, in Ramsden Heath near Billericay.

But Essex Police said today that the woman’s death was not caused by assault and it is no longer being treated as suspicious.

Essex student took his own life in ‘unpredictable’ tragedy during first Covid lockdown

A university student took his own life after he stopped engaging with his business course amid the Covid-19 pandemic, an inquest has heard.

Will Bargate, 23, was in the second year of his course at Warwick University at the time of the first national lockdown and had moved back to his family home in Little Sampford in Essex to work remotely.

His father said his son, who got straight A grades at A-level, was “always smiling, always seemed to be happy and engaged”.

Drug dealer sleeps through police raiding his home

A drug dealer was found asleep in an armchair by police officers – having slept through the raid of his home.

Tommy Aldridge has been jailed after the raid uncovered messages linking him to the supply of heroin and cocaine and makeshift weapons earlier this year.

Police who responded to concerns that a vulnerable person’s home had been taken over by drug dealers found Aldridge asleep on an armchair inside.

Snow could hit Britain in November as ‘polar vortex’ sees temperatures plunge

Brits have been urged to keep warm as a polar vortex is expected to deliver snow by November.

According to the Met Office, the freezing condition is just around the corner despite a warm start to October.

Forecasters have said the cold temperatures are because of the Atlantic weather system heading east.

Essex lovebirds marry among 20,000 animals with ring made from London Zoo itself

Alison Russell and Matt Robbins who tied the knot at London Zoo with the help of two rings made from one of the attraction's historic structures. Staff at the zoo repurposed aluminium from the Grade II-listed Snowdon Aviary to make two rings for the pair.

Lovebirds Matt Robbins and Alison Russell tied the knot among 20,000 animals with metal rings crafted from one of London Zoo’s most iconic landmarks.

The Romford couple hoped to wed at the zoo, once a favourite date spot, in October last year but their plans were devastated by the coronavirus pandemic.

But after they managed to rearrange staff at the zoo decided to go the extra mile and repurposed aluminium from the Grade II-listed Snowdon Aviary to make two rings for the pair.
