Neither of the men are connected to a long-term care or retirement home, the Middlesex-London Health Unit reported Sunday. The health unit also announced six new COVID-19 cases.

The two latest fatalities bring the COVID-19 death toll to 243 in London and Middlesex County. The majority of the COVID-19 deaths occurred during the second wave of the pandemic, from late November through early February. At the time, COVID-19 vaccines were not widely available and the London-area was grappling with a series of deadly outbreaks in long-term care and hospital units.

Two of the COVID-19 deaths reported by the health unit to date were fully vaccinated. Fourteen local COVID-19 deaths were in people who were partially vaccinated or within 14 days of their first vaccine dose and not yet protected by the shot.
