Takehiro Tomiyasu sends 14-word message to Arsenal supporters after major achievement

Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has promised to continue his hard work after being named the club’s Player of the Month for September.

The Japanese international only arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Cagliari on deadline day but has made quite the impression.

He has already made four appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners, winning three and conceding just one goal – Son Heung-min’s strike in the North London Derby last month.

Tomiyasu’s performances at right-back have been exceptional and he has deservedly been named as the Gunners’ Player of the Month for September due to his displays.

The 22-year-old took to his Instagram story to respond after winning the award.

He wrote: “Thank you. Because of you all who supporting me always!

“Carry on working hard.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will certainly hope to have Tomiyasu available in October following the international break.

He is currently away with Japan and they are set to take on Australia in a 2022 World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

He will then be required to fly back to London – a trip that could potentially take as much as a whole day – meaning he could well be hugely fatigued upon his return.

Fortunately, the Gunners have slightly more time to prepare for their game with Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.

The two teams come together on Monday, October 18, meaning Tomiyasu has plenty of time to rest before Arteta needs to decide on his team to take on the Eagles.

Heading into the game, the Gunners sit 11th in the Premier League table, with a victory against Patrick Vieira’s men in north London potentially seeing them climb all the way up to seventh.
