Out of control dog ‘shot four times’ by police after attacking woman leaving her with life-changing injuries

A woman in her 40s has been left with life-changing injuries after being attacked by a dog in Hounslow.

Emergency services rushed to Redwood Estate, Hounslow on September 26 following reports of a dog being dangerously out of control.

Eyewitnesses say that a woman was attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and that the dog was ‘unstoppable’.

One passer-by, who does not wish to be named, sent footage to My London of the incident, showing police cars and ambulances at the scene.

She said: “A woman was attacked inside her home by her son’s dog, who I think is an American Staffordshire Bullterrier.

“She tried to stop the dog from attacking her neck, but it could not be stopped.

“There was a pool of blood everywhere as her door was broken down.”

“The police shot the dog four times and was put down on the spot. Another dog was also present and taken away from owner.

“People feared that she wouldn’t survive but thankfully she is recovering.”

It is understood that an air ambulance took the victim to St Peter’s Hospital.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 19:15hrs on Sunday, 26 September to reports of a dog dangerously out of control at an address in Redwood Estate, Hounslow.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and a woman, aged in her 40s, was treated at the scene for injuries before being taken to hospital. Her injuries are deemed life changing.

“The dog was destroyed at the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
