Met Office weather: London will be almost as hot as Corfu and Tenerife as summer decides to stick around

As temperatures in London plummeted earlier this week, it seemed winter was finally setting in.

But a milder end to the week proved otherwise, and temperatures still show no sign of dropping again just yet.

The capital is set to continue basking in warm weather over the weekend, when we can expect similar temperatures to some classic sun-trap holiday destinations on the med.

According to the Met Office, Londoners can expect highs of 19 degrees today (Friday, October 8), and highs of 18 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.

This compares to Met Office forecasts for Corfu in Greece, where temperatures are set to hover between 18 and 23 degrees over the weekend, and BBC forecasts for Tenerife in Spain, which will also see temperatures in the low 20s.

Saturday will see sunny intervals throughout the day in London, with some cloud setting in by the early evening, while Sunday will start off cloudy before seeing the sun break through by late morning.

At their coldest points, both days should still not see temperatures of below 10 degrees.

From Monday (October 11) temperatures will start dropping off again according to Met Office forecasts, with highs of 16 degrees dropping off to 15 degrees by Tuesday onwards.
