London fire: Horror as thick plume of black smoke fills sky – huge blaze causes panic | UK | News

Video circulating on social media shows a large fire is underway in West Hendon Broadway in Edgware, London. Eight fire engines are at the scene of the fire – a car workshop.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “I can confirm we have appliances in West Hendon Broadway.

“We received the call at 6.42pm.

“Eight appliances are in attendance.

“It is a car workshop.”

Police officers are also in attendance with roads closures in place.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the force is “supporting with traffic management”. 

The closures are in place on Northwick Road and Cool Oak Lane.

The force confirmed garages in West Hendon Broadway are on fire.

Traffic is it a standstill in footage shared on Twitter.

London Ambulance Service confirmed they are also in attendance.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7:02pm this evening (October 7) to a fire just off the A5 (West Hendon Broadway), in NW9.

“We dispatched an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and units from our hazardous area response team.

“We haven’t treated any patients but crews remain on scene working with emergency services partners.”
