Newcastle takeover: Who new owners may sign from Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs in transfer window

Newcastle United have finally been taken over after the Premier League confirmed the Saudi Arabia-backed consortium have bought Mike Ashley’s shares in the club.

The Magpies are now set to become the wealthiest club in the Premier League, which is going to have huge implications on the rest of the division, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.

After years of protesting against Ashley, Newcastle supporters have finally got what they want – with Public Investment Fund (PIF) now owning 80 per cent of the Tyneside-based club.

With all the financial power now behind them, Newcastle could raid London trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in many transfer windows to come.

So, who could Newcastle go after from the aforementioned clubs? football.london takes a close look.

Harry Winks

Winks has become a bit-part player at Tottenham over the past 12 months or so and is being strongly linked with a move away from north London.

The Daily Mail reported in August that Newcastle were keen on signing the English midfielder and they could look to rekindle their interest in his services now they have the financial power behind them.

William Saliba

Saliba, who is a hugely exciting prospect, is yet to make a competitive appearance for Arsenal and Newcastle previously expressed an interest in the French defender, according to reports.

The 20-year-old centre-back will not come cheap, with the Gunners said to be aware of how well he is progressing on loan at Marseille, but the Magpies have the tools to lure Saliba to St. James’ Park now.

Rob Holding

Like his Arsenal team-mate, Saliba, Holding was once linked with a move to Newcastle and the club could rekindle their interest in the Gunners defender in the coming transfer windows.

Holding’s place under Mikel Arteta is uncertain now, with Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes set to be the first-choice centre-back partnership, when available, for the remainder of the season.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

The Blues winger is a name that is always prominent in the transfer rumour mill and Newcastle could look to take advantage of this.

Despite not being clearly linked with Hudson-Odoi in the past, the England international is an immense talent and could be one that attracts interest from the Magpies.

Eddie Nketiah

Nketiah has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Arsenal and could be put up for sale in the January transfer window.

The Gunners will want to get some money for the striker should he not put pen-to-paper on a new extension at the Emirates Stadium, something that may attract Newcastle.

The Magpies do not have a wealth of options when it comes to central strikers, with Callum Wilson, Joelinton and Dwight Gayle being their only centre-forwards at the moment.
