Balham Hill traffic collision: live updates as moped rider rushed to hospital following collision with car

A moped rider has been rushed to hospital after a collision with a car in south London this morning (October 4).

Road closures are currently causing traffic in the area of the collision, which took place in Balham Hill, Clapham, at around 5.35am.

The condition of the moped rider is not yet known.

According to Transport for London, the A24 in Balham Hill (SW12) is currently closed in both directions at the junction of Cathles Road.

Southbound is additionally closed at Nightingale Lane.

Traffic is reportedly running slowly on approach to the closure, and drivers are warned to expect delays and use alternative routes.

Police have released the following statement: “Police were called at approximately 05:35hrs on Monday, 4 October to reports of a collision involving a car and a moped in Balham Hill, SW12.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the rider of the moped, a man – no further details, was taken to hospital for treatment; condition awaits.

“The car stopped at the scene.

“No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“Anyone who can assist is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD1037/4Oct.”
