Driver killed after car flips and crashes into wall in Croydon

A man has been killed in a crash in South London when he lost control of his car, overturned, then crashed in the wall of a residential home.

Police investigating the fatal incident in Old Coulsdon, Croydon, on the morning of October 1 are urgently calling on anyone who may have seen what happened to come forward.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Coulsdon Road at 7am.

The driver was rushed to St Georges Hospital with life-threatening injuries but he was pronounced dead at 10.15am this morning (October 3).

According to the police, the car was driving was travelling north of Coulsdon Road at “excess speeds” when the driver lost control.

The car flipped before colliding with a wall on a residential driveway.

At this stage, police do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The victim in this crash was 29 years old.

Police are calling on anyone who may have information on the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are investigating.

“They are particularly keen to hear from any drivers who were on Coulsdon Road at approximately 7am and who may have recorded the events leading up to the collision on dashcam.

“Any witnesses are asked to call the SCIU at Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574, quoting CAD 1234/01OCT2021”
