Basildon Festival Leisure Park attack: Attempted murder probe launched after car drove at group of people

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man suffered a serious leg injury last night.

According to police reports, a car drove at a group people in the Festival Leisure Park car park in Basildon, Essex.

Essex Police were called to the disturbance at about 4.30am this morning (Sunday October 3).

Officers arrived and found the driver of a car had fled the scene.

A spokesman for the police said: “Following a short search of the area, which was supported by the Essex Police Dog Unit, a 25-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

“He remains in custody for questioning.

“One man was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious leg injury.”

Photos taken at the scene this morning show a car lodged in a hedge, with forensic police investigating.
