The woman, who did not want to be named, told My London: “I worry for my son. I can’t believe this has happened in Tooting.”

Hours after the incident the woman was still shaken from what she witnessed, and has been left thinking about moving away from the city.

“I just want to get the hell out of here if I’m honest. I’m done,” she said.

“When it’s literally on your doorstep it’s like a sign telling you to go.”

She recalled how she had witnessed the incident while walking to work, saying: “I saw a guy in black, he came out of the side road. I believe it was targeted.

“I was walking and I heard the first bang and obviously everyone was like ‘huh’. I thought it was a car, as you do, and then someone said it was a gun.

“There were three guys. The main guy, the shooter, stepped forward and put his arm out and went to shoot another guy. I didn’t see the other guy until he was on the floor and a passer-by was helping him,” she continued.

“I said ‘have you been shot’, he said ‘yeah in my leg’.”

The woman suspected that the victim was in his “late twenties, early thirties”, before explaining that the whole incident “was very very quick”.
