Michail Antonio to start, Lukasz Fabianski decision – West Ham predicted XI vs Leeds United

7

West Ham manager David Moyes is expected to make wholesale changes from the team which defeated Manchester United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Moyes made ten changes to the starting XI in mid-week and a similar number could be on the cards for the Hammers return to league action.

The team which takes to the field at Elland Road is expected to have a similar look to the one that narrowly lost to the Red Devils last weekend in the Premier League.

One change from the 2-1 home defeat will see Michail Antonio return to the side at the expense of either Jarrod Bowen or Nikola Vlasic.

Bowen was the one man to start both matches against Manchester United, playing 180 minutes of football. As a result, he could be handed a rest but such is his fitness and form the Englishman is expected to retain his place at the expense of Vlasic.

Antonio will reprise his role through the middle with Bowen moving back to his wide right position.

Moyes has settled on a 4-2-3-1 formation and there is no reason to believe he will deviate from this plan at Elland Road.

Following Alphonse Areola’s fine debut in goal at Old Trafford, the manager faces a selection headache but with Lukasz Fabianski making a number of fine saves last weekend the Pole is likely to return against Leeds.

Despite superb performances from both Issa Diop and Craig Dawson in the Carabao Cup, the league pairing of Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna should return for the weekend’s action. The centre-backs will be flanked by the reliable Vladimir Coufal and Aaron Cresswell at right and left-back respectively.

Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice both had a rest during the mid-week action and will be straight back into the team on Saturday afternoon, with Rice captaining the team.

Ryan Fredericks is out of the match following an early injury against Manchester United and his spot on the bench could go to versatile defender Ben Johnson.
