L anarkshire singer Midge Ure has been left stunned after a would be thief attempted to snatch his phone in the middle of the day.
The Cambuslang musician, best known for fronting Ultravox and co founding Live Aid, said the incident happened while in London on Thursday afternoon.
Posting on Twitter, he explained: “Someone on a bike tried to snatch my phone from my hand in central London yesterday. In broad daylight!”

“Came out of nowhere on the pavement, made the grab, missed and knocked it out my hand then disappeared into the traffic.
“Desperate times. What’s the world come to?”
The singer recently scooped the lifetime achievement award at the Scotland’s Champions event run by our sister paper the Daily Record.
Fans expressed their support for Midge, a former Rutherglen Academy pupil who went on to have massive chart success with hits like Vienna in the 1980s.
One said: “Hope you are okay Midge. That’s awful. This is why I keep my phone tucked away when I’m in the street. You never know who’s about. Take care out there x”
Another added: “I’m sorry to hear that Midge, it must have really shaken you up. Hope you are ok, take care.”
Midge, who will hit the road for a UK tour next year, later confirmed he was fine, adding: “All good thanks. Not shaken, just stirred up! See what I did there?”
