Romanian celebrity gives it all up to become London estate agent

Many people have made it from estate agency into TV, but a Romanian celebrity has reversed this trend by becoming an estate agent.

40-year-old Rocsana Marcu (pictured) has been a well-known TV presenter and pop star in her home country for over 20 years, but recently arrived in London to start a new role at estate agency Benjamin Stevens, covering the North London area of Winchmore Hill and its surrounding areas.

“You need to be good at talking to people and present yourself well. I always wanted to be an estate agent,” she says.

Her ambition to be an estate agent also runs in the family – Marcu says her daughters Indyra, ten, and Mayra, 14 also want to follow her into the property industry, and already help her track down instructions.

Too much

“Back in Romania, people would recognise me in the street and take pictures of me and my daughters. It became too much,” says Marcu.

“The Benjamin Stevens Hub model really appealed to me as I wanted to start a career in estate agency in London but in a flexible way so that I could juggle my new role and still have the time I need to be with my daughters.”

Steve says “We are looking to give people the opportunity to build their own business within our brand. We’ve grown very fast very quickly. Agents are attracted to the idea of managing their own time and, earning more money.
