A man in his 30s has been stabbed to death in a residential street in east London, police have confirmed.
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to reports of a group of males fighting on East Ferry Road just before 8.30pm on Tuesday night.
Police and paramedics, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer as well as London’s Air Ambulance, all swarmed on the scene.
On arriving they found a man who had suffered from stab injuries. Officers administered CPR before the London Ambulance Service arrived.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Images on social media showed ambulance, police and onlookers crowded around where the main fell in the middle of the road.
The man’s identity is yet to be confirmed and police said they were working to identify the man and inform his next of kin.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told My London: “We were called at 8.28pm today (21 September) to reports of a stabbing in East Ferry Road, E14.
“We sent a number of resources including an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and medics from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Police enquiries are ongoing and a crime scene has been set up in the area.
The Metropolitan Police said in its initial statement: “Police were called at 20:26hrs on Tuesday, 21 September to East Ferry Road E14 following reports of a group of males fighting.
“Officers responded and found a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, suffering from stab injuries.
“Officers administered CPR prior to the arrival of LAS paramedics.
“Despite their best efforts the male was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Police are working to confirm the man’s identity and inform his next of kin.
“Enquiries are ongoing and a crime scene is in place.
“Anyone who has information that could help police is asked to call 101 ref CAD 7234/ 21 Sept.”
