London Luton Airport: easyJet secure 51,000 extra seats on new flights to prime holiday destinations

Luton-based easyJet has announced its selling 51,000 extra seats on multiple new flights across the country after the Government’s announcement last week about changes to the travel rules.

Currently, countries are placed in either green, amber or red lists, which has a number of varying restrictions depending on your vaccination status.

However, from October 4, the green and amber list will be scrapped as well as pre-departure PCR tests for fully vaccinated passengers.

The red list and the rules around it will not be changing, meaning British nationals returning from red countries will still need to self-isolate at Government approved hotels.

But with easier circumstances surrounding travel to some of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations, EasyJet have taken advantage.

Off the back of the Government’s announcement, easyJet has boosted its seat numbers to destinations such as Faro, Majorca and Alicante.

They hope the added seats will make it easier for families to have a holiday abroad this October half term.

Sophie Dekkers, easyJet chief commercial officer, said: “Every time restrictions have been relaxed or removed we have seen pent up demand and this is no exception.

“With Brits scrambling for last-minute summer sun, particularly over the October half term, we are putting on even more flights to the most popular beach hot spots to serve this added demand.”
