The mother of a five-year-old girl found dead at her home in West Ealing has been charged with murder.

Martina Madarova, 41, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today charged with murdering Aijah Thomas.

Met police officers were called to Leyborne Avenue in Ealing just before 1pm on Tuesday after concerns were raised for the little girl’s welfare.

The girl was found inside the house and an ambulance crew tried to save her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have since identified her as Aijah Thomas.

Aijah’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Her cause of death has not been confirmed and a post-mortem has been scheduled for later today.

A female suspect was taken into custody yesterday as photos from the scene showed a large cordon in place around a house on the residential street.

Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.
